Kimberly (Kym) Lucas joined the staff of St. Margaret’s January 3, 2012. She comes to St. Margaret’s from St. Ambrose Episcopal Church in Raleigh, N.C., where she served as rector for the past six years. Prior to St. Ambrose, Kym was a Priest Associate at Church of the Advocate in Chapel Hill, N.C.; Rector of Christ Church, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Assistant Rector of St. Luke’s, Trinity Parish in Bethesda, Md., in the Diocese of Washington.
Kym is a native North Carolinian and a graduate of Wake Forest University (where she met her husband, Mark Retherford). She earned her Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York. She is a cradle Episcopalian and die-hard Steelers fan!
In 15 years of ministry, Kym counts the lessons she’s learned about faith from children among the most important. This fuels her passion for energetic worship, Christian formation and kid-friendly church. She and Mark share their home with their four children: Jaden, Kaia, Ronan and Croix.
