Whether you’ve gone to church your whole life or you are just now beginning your faith journey, St. Margaret’s strives to offer Adult Christian Formation opportunities that meet you where you are. We offer classes, retreats, and forums as well as sharing seminars with neighboring congregations. All are welcome to come and explore.

Inquirer’s Class

Offered each fall, “Your Faith, Your Life: An Invitation to the Episcopal Church” is a multi-week class perfect for newcomers or lifelong Episcopalians who want to know more about the Church. With an engaging and conversational approach, the class unpacks the language of worship, theology, church structure, and sacraments, providing participants with the framework to explore, experience, and share the meaning and practices of our faith. This class also meets the requirements to prepare participants for the sacramental rite of Confirmation, with the option to register for the Diocese of Washington’s Confirmation Service in the fall or spring. Adult Forums

Seasonal adult Sunday School mini series, forums, book studies, Bible study, and discussions are scheduled before or after Sunday worship throughout the year. For more information on topics, see the News and Announcements.

On the Way

A continuing opportunity for adult fellowship, explorations of the Bible, book discussions and reflection on the faith journey is offered in On the Way, which meets on two Monday evenings each month. Contact Adult Formation Committee Chair Ron Lorentzen at for updates on the particular topics.

St. Margaret’s Retreat Ministry organizes an adult retreat each year during Advent. These gatherings provide a good balance of fellowship and quiet time as we step away from the clamor of our routines to reflect on our faith journeys. Our lay-led weekends include creative worship, discussion, solitude, and shared meals. For details, contact Ron Lorentzen at

At St. Margaret's we rely on financial gifts from members and guests to support our ministries and mission. There are a number of ways to give, including making a formal annual pledge.
