I chose St. Margaret's as my internship site after learning about your impressive history of involvement in DC and your current interest in getting to know the community around you. My interests are in community engagement, group building, and story-telling (some might call that "evangelism"). I love hearing people's stories and believe that the church can have a central role in weaving together a common narrative for our communities in this ever decentralized world. The church faces great challenges today, but I think that this gives us the opportunity to take risks, experiment, and deeply listen. What an exciting time to be in the church!
As a relatively new Episcopalian, I'm still becoming familiar with the "language" and customs so I look forward to learning more about liturgy and the rhythms of parish life. I still pronounce words incorrectly on a pretty regular basis, so please help me- I want to become fluent in "Episcopalian!"
And I look forward to meeting you! Tell me your story. Tell me why you care enough to come to church here. Together, I hope we can prayerfully discern a common path as we journey together for this coming year.
