Pastoral Care

If you would like to speak to a priest about a pastoral concern, please contact the Rector, the Rev. Kym Lucas ( or the Assistant Rector, the Rev. Anne Nicholson ( to make an appointment. If you are in the hospital or experiencing a crisis, please call one of us on our cell phones.
At the heart of any parish is the parish's heart; which is to say, "How do we love the tender, the hurting, and vulnerable among us? How do we share the love of Christ with one another?" These questions are answered in myriad ways in this community - often in loving acts of support: listening, prayer, providing comfort or practical assistance, and by refusing to let go from our midst those members unable to participate in the fellowship of St. Margaret's for reasons beyond their control. Please enjoy exploring the ministries of Support & Prayer! For more info, contact Kate Blackburn at 202-588-8595.

Prayer Requests

St. Margaret's maintains a prayer list that is circulated in the announcements each week. If you would like to include a person in the congregation's prayers for the sick, the departed, or those who need to be remembered in prayer for any reason, please send an email to the clergy and to our parish administrator Wayne Floyd. Healing Ministry

During the service every second and fourth Sunday of the month, we have prayers for healing or other concerns. While the congregation sings a hymn, those who would like prayers are invited to come to the altar rail to pray with one of the clergy or lay ministers. You may offer a brief explanation of why you have come, or simply say nothing. It is not a private confession, but a request for support and prayer, and as such do know that one of the clergy may follow-up with you at a later time. This is an important ministry for St. Margaret's: One in which our members pray for one another's well-being. If you would like to know more about this ministry, please call Kimberly Lucas at 202.232.2995 ext 12.

Rides to Church

Everyone needs a lift every now and again - and some may need it every Sunday! We want to make every effort to make sure that happens. If you need a ride to church on Sunday or to another parish event, please contact Jim Dougan at or call the church office 202-232-2995. Anyone interested in providing transportation for a fellow parishioner, please contact Jim to volunteer! Mobility is such a basic fact for most of us that we never give it a second thought. Meeting this need for others is a vital and straightforward gift of grace.
