A dozen or so parishioners enjoyed the Docent-led tour at the National Museum of Women in the Arts: "Picturing Mary: Woman, Mother, Idea." This popular exhibit explores concepts of womanhood represented by the Virgin Mary along with the social and sacred functions her image has served through time. Included are Renaissance and Baroque-era masterworks from prominent museums along with other paintings, sculptures and drawings by male and female artists offering diverse ways of visualizing the idea of Mary.  There is still time to see the exhibit on your own!  Open through April 12, 2015.
