Friday, September 9, 8:00 PM, Musical Reflections in a Sacred Space

posted Aug 22, 2011, 6:50 AM by Linda Heaney

Our choirmaster and organist, Dr. Theodore Guerrant, will present an evening of organ music honoring those whose lives were given in service to their country, especially the victims of the September 11, 2001 tragedy. The program will consist of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Alexandre Guilmant, Felix Borowski, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, and Cesar Franck.  This year's concert is dedicated to the memory of Dr. John M. Cheatham, Jr. (1940-2008), who is a relative of parishioner Virginia Kirk and served our country first as a sergeant in the Army Special Forces in Vietnam, then later donated his services as an ophthalmologist for 20 years in the undeveloped world, founding the Mathis Eye Foundation giving over 20,000 people their sight during which time he never received a dollar of salary nor charged a single patient for his services. The public is cordially invited, and a light reception will follow in the parish hall.
