Concert on Friday, September 12, at 8:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Saint Margaret's will present "An Evening of Light and Shadow," a program featuring Gail Collins, mezzo-soprano, Chris Gekker, trumpeter, Christine Castillo, flutist, and Theodore Guerrant, pianist, in works by Samuel Barber, Ned Rorem, Edvard Grieg, John Bucchino, Claude Debussy, Georg Frederic Handel, Eric Ewazen, Samuel Dylan Rosner, and Manuel de Falla. The featured work on this program, " . . . to cast a shadow again," in eight movements, was composed in 2006 by Chris Gekker's Juilliard faculty colleague and friend Eric Ewazen to a poem by Chris Gekker's sister Katherine Gekker, and is dedicated to Chris. Another composer on the program, tenor Samuel Dylan Rosner, just graduated from high school and studies composition at Juilliard with Eric Ewazen. A free-will offering will be received to benefit Charlie's Place, and a light reception will follow in the fellowship hall. The public is cordially invited.
