What We Do
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday starting at 6:30am Charlie’s Place offers homeless individuals coffee, tea and pastries. After announcement and/or a presentation at 7:30am we serve a hot and nutritious meal. Our breakfast program serves approximately 80 individuals every morning the breakfast program takes place.
Providing a nutritious meal is only part of what we do at Charlie’s Place. Clothes distribution, barbering services, writing classes, space for personal hygiene and a stable address to receive and send out mail also play a critical role in creating an environment that is most helpful for all clients. Twice a week we also provide a registered nurse to administer toiletries, first aid and attend to minor ailments. If any additional attention is needed our nurse refers each client to the appropriate clinic or hospital.
Strong relationships with other social service providers such as Neighbor’s Consejo, Friendship Place, First Helping, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless and Department of Mental Health help us provide additional social services, outreach services, legal services, health education and other supportive and empowering services.
