Rector's Reflection for March 15, 2013

posted Mar 15, 2013, 8:12 PM by Terry Brady
Many people complimented my reflection from the Right Reverend Steven Charleston.  He is one of the most spirit filled church leaders I've ever met and I have a collection of quotes and sayings.  As the 2016 Committee embarks on the task of discerning how our church might most fully engage the Spirit and the World, these words of Bishop Charleston seem especially appropriate.

"If you listen carefully to that still small voice in the back of your mind you will hear inspiration whispering to you. One of the ways I believe God works in our lives is simply to give us a good idea, if we will only receive it. It may be a grand scheme. It may be a small opportunity. But the creative power of spiritual invention is always there. It is what moves us to take a holy risk, to imagine a sacred vision, to try a path never ventured. Open your life to the inspiration from within. Your prayers may be answered not with a knock at the door but with a plan already under your roof."  The Rt. Rev. Steven Charleston, Choctaw

May we have hearts to receive the Spirit's good ideas and the courage to follow the unfamiliar path.
