Rector's Reflection for December 21, 2012

"For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  Isaiah 9:6.

Isaiah's words ring through the season.  We have a reason to celebrate: even in the darkness, even in face of violence and trauma, even in the midst of despair.  We have been given a gift.  God has given us the gift of God's own self: light, love, life.

We hope that you will join us in celebrating the wonderful gift the world has been given!  This Christmas Eve we will celebrate as a community the coming of Christ into the world.  We will also celebrate the completion of my first year as Rector of St. Margaret's!  It's been an amazing year, and I'm looking forward to being with you in worship and fellowship in the coming year.

I pray the Peace of the Spirit be your companion throughout this New Year.
